Iran’s unrest triggers explosion of fake news

Some of the most incendiary accusations made against Iran’s government by corporate media, celebrity influencers and Western leaders in the past months are little more than fabrications. And most remain uncorrected.   by Setareh Sadeqi and Christopher Weaver   Part 5 - The little girl who died three times   On September 28, billionaire child fantasy author J.K. Rowling retweeted a post that read as follows: “ Heartbreaking 💔 Iranian father who promised to live long enough to dance at his daughter’s wedding ends up dancing at her funeral after she was killed by the Iranian morality police for not covering her hair. ” The viral tweet was accompanied by video clip from the Azerbaijan drama series ‘Ata Ocagi’ (Hearth of Father) from 2018.  This same scene has been used to manipulate emotions in narratives used to advance both Covid restrictions and Syrian regime change. Just imagine being killed by the Syrian “regime,” then succumbing to Covid before being cruelly cut down by the Ayatolla

Why is Venezuela’s gold still frozen in the Bank of England?

Four years ago, the UK government recognised Juan Guaidó as Venezuela’s president. He’s now gone, but the Bank of England is still holding some of the country’s key assets. JOHN McEVOY   Part 3 - ‘Delighted’ to freeze Venezuela’s gold   The Foreign Office is refusing to say whether its officials or ministers have had discussions with counterparts in the United States on the Venezuelan gold stored in the Bank of England since 2019. In response to a Freedom of Information request, it also claimed that “ the release of information relating to this case could harm our relations with the United States of America and Venezuela ”. Yet according to Bolton, Hunt was “ delighted ” to help with Washington’s destabilisation campaign in Venezuela, “ for example freezing Venezuelan gold deposits in the Bank of England ”. The Bank’s directors, however, were uneasy about the legal implications of freezing a foreign state’s assets. The Bank of England had already refused to release Venezuela’s gold in

How America took out the Nord Stream pipeline

The New York Times called it a “mystery,” but the United States executed a covert sea operation that was kept secret—until now   by Seymour Hersh   Part 1   The U.S. Navy’s Diving and Salvage Center can be found in a location as obscure as its name—down what was once a country lane in rural Panama City, a now-booming resort city in the southwestern panhandle of Florida, 70 miles south of the Alabama border. The center’s complex is as nondescript as its location—a drab concrete post-World War II structure that has the look of a vocational high school on the west side of Chicago. A coin-operated laundromat and a dance school are across what is now a four-lane road. The center has been training highly skilled deep-water divers for decades who, once assigned to American military units worldwide, are capable of technical diving to do the good—using C4 explosives to clear harbors and beaches of debris and unexploded ordinance—as well as the bad, like blowing up foreign oil rigs, fouling inta

Roger Waters smeared by Pink Floyd bandmate over Ukraine

The Jimmy Dore Show   Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters has long been an outspoken advocate for oppressed people across the globe, whether in Yemen, Palestine, Peru or elsewhere. He’s also defended Julian Assange and called for peace in Ukraine. And for his trouble and sticking his neck out he’s been pilloried and smeared, in particular recently by his Pink Floyd bandmate David Gilmour. Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss the example of Eric Clapton being excoriated after revealing he’d been vaccine injured and now Roger Waters receiving similar treatment for opposing the Ukraine war. No. Every word is a big lie and all together is typical CIA propaganda. Shame on you. — failedevolution (@failedevolution) February 9, 2023

Illegal US sanctions blocking aid to Syria, after earthquake killed thousands

Illegal US and EU sanctions have prevented some humanitarian aid from being sent to Syria, after a devastating earthquake killed thousands of people. The death toll is increasing by the day, but at least 3000 Syrians had lost their lives due to the earthquake as of February 9. Thousands of buildings were also destroyed. This is especially damaging because Syria had already been destabilized by a decade of war, fueled with billions of dollars and foreign meddling by the US, Europe, and Israel. Syrian Arab Red Crescent director Khaled Hboubati told the Associated Press that unilateral Western sanctions have exacerbated the “ difficult humanitarian situation ”. “ There is no fuel even to send (aid and rescue) convoys, and this is because of the blockade and sanctions ”, Hboubati warned.   Syria’s United Nations Ambassador Bassam al-Sabbagh explained that US and EU sanctions have prevented planes from landing in Syrian airports, “ So even those countries who want to send humanitarian assi

The invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation was illegal. I condemn it in the strongest possible terms. Also, the Russian invasion of Ukraine was not unprovoked. So, I also condemn the provocateurs in the strongest possible terms.

On MSNBC and "Authoritarianism"

A brief response to the latest hit piece   by Matt Taibbi   MSNBC opinion columnist Zeesham Aleem just penned the latest in what’s become a parade of hit pieces from mainstream outlets directed at me and other independent journalists. Even by the low standards of the genre, “How the populist left has become vulnerable to the populist right” is a humorous standout. It argues that after I spent a month detailing how the FBI, DHS, DOD, CIA and other agencies built a system for mass delivery of censorship requests to firms like Twitter and Facebook, I helped fuel a subculture that “ could funnel people from leftism to authoritarianism. ” Here’s a brief list of talking heads at the network now claiming people like me, Glenn Greenwald, Tulsi Gabbard and Jimmy Dore are the ones guilty of funneling audiences to “authoritarianism”:        John Brennan, former Director of the CIA, now senior intelligence analyst at MSNBC     Frank Figliuzzi, formeer Assistant Director of Counterintelligence at t

Day 1400: Julian Assange still in prison and under slow-motion execution by the Anglo-American imperialist criminals

failed evolution   On 11 April 2019, the Ecuadorian government of traitor Lenin Moreno, invited the Metropolitan Police into the Ecuadorian embassy in London, and they arrested Julian Assange . Since then, Assange is kept in Belmarsh high security prison in London, without actual charges.   The real reason world's number one political prisoner is still kept in this high security prison, is because he exposed horrendous war crimes carried out by the US imperialists and their allies.   The ruthless Western imperialist regime wants to punish the No1 real journalist in the world and make him an example for any Whistleblower or real journalist who will attempt to expose its big crimes in the future.   And the Anglo-American axis has now become officially a fascist coalition , framed by the rest of its Western pets. UK's Home Secretary Priti Patel, one of the most ruthless ever, decided to extradite Julian Assange to US. No surprise of course. The only question we had in mind is

BRICS challenges US ‘dollar dominance’, Saudi considers selling oil in other currencies: New multipolar economic order

BRICS is “developing a fairer system of monetary exchange” to challenge the “dominance of the dollar”, South Africa revealed. Saudi Arabia is considering selling oil in other currencies. Economist Zoltan Pozsar says the US “unipolar era” is over.   by Ben Norton  Part 4 - Prominent Credit Suisse economist describes new multipolar order challenging US dollar’s ‘exorbitant privilege’ These historic developments in the BRICS and Saudi Arabia are part of an international shift to a multipolar economic order. Prominent economist Zoltan Pozsar, global head of short-term interest rate strategy at Swiss investment bank Credit Suisse, described this transition in a January 20 op-ed in the Financial Times , titled “Great power conflict puts the dollar’s exorbitant privilege under threat“. Pozsar, who is something of a celebrity in contemporary economics and has been described as a “superstar” by the financial press, wrote that the “ unipolar era ” following the end of the first cold war, in whic

How Western sanctions blow back, hurting Europe, deepening Asian integration

Western sanctions led Russia to greatly increase trade with Asia, while devastating Europe’s economy. The US tech war against China is damaging its own industry.   by Renate Bridenthal  Part 6 - Western sanctions accelerate development of new financial systems   One of the ways to avoid primary and secondary sanctions is by trading in local currencies, rather than by using SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications), a member-owned system made up of banks and financial institutions worldwide, widely used for transactions that are denominated in dollars. SWIFT blocks payments that breach U.S. sanctions. Thus, more and more countries are trading in other currencies. Russia trades with India in rubles and rupees, and with China in rubles and renminbi. Also trading in national currencies are members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which includes China, India, Pakistan, Russia, Iran, and numerous Central Asian states, making up half the world’s population.
