Bernie Sanders needs to review some of his positions, especially on foreign policy matters. In some cases he adopts many of the most hawkish neocon, pro-intervention positions, also fully adopted by Trump administration.
Latest disappointment, his answer during the recent democratic debate concerning Venezuela. Bernie disorderly retreated against the attack of the anchor who made the question quite aggressively and actually demanded from Bernie to admit that Nicolás Maduro is a dictator.
Bernie did something even worse. He called the legitimate president of the country a "vicious tyrant". Here is Bernie's answer:
First of all, let me be very clear. Anybody who does what Maduro does, is a vicious tyrant. What we need now is international and regional cooperation for free elections in Venezuela, so that the people of that country can create their own future.
It's completely unacceptable for a progressive like Bernie to adopt the narrative manufactured by the US imperialist propaganda machine.
It's a disgrace for Bernie to side with Trump's bloodthirsty neocons who want regime change in Venezuela in order to open the road for the US big oil cartel to loot the rich oil reserves of the country.
It's a disgrace for Bernie not to recognize that Venezuela is the victim of a brutal economic war, orchestrated by the US imperialists since Chávez era. And that this war has devastating consequences in the everyday life of many Venezuelans.
Bernie should know better than anyone because he knows very well the long history of endless US interventions in Latin America, through CIA-backed military and constitutional coups, regime change operations, electoral fraud, military invasions.
Dear Bernie:
Venezuela has a legitimately elected government. Instead of retreating to the establishment pressure, adopting the US imperialist propaganda, you should clearly denounce Trump's policy on the country, suggesting a path towards peaceful cooperation.
