Bernie Sanders proved again why he should be the next president of the United States. This time, he declared war on the neoliberal fascists who are destroying the planet on behalf of the corporate beasts.
Bernie tweeted:
Climate change is a global emergency. Bolsonaro and his corporate cronies are burning the Amazon rainforest for personal profit and jeopardizing our planet's survival. My Green New Deal will impose climate sanctions against corporations that threaten our global climate goals.

Recall that the previous right-wing corporate puppet in Brazil, Michel Temer, opened the door to the corporate beasts who are ready to wipe out the natural environment to maximize their profits.
As Telesur reported two years ago:
Brazil's
right-wing president Michel Temer abolished a sprawling nature reserve
in the Amazon rainforest covering 4.6 million hectares (17,800 square
miles), an area larger than Denmark, opening it up to commercial
activity.
The
ecologically rich and delicate area, known as the National Reserve of
Copper and Associates, or Renca, is believed by prospectors to contain
enormous reserves of gold, iron, manganese, and other minerals.
The
Renca reserve has existed since 1984 with the intention of protection
the area from mining activities which would harm ecological diversity,
wildlife, as well as indigenous communities.
Mining
groups petitioned the unelected Temer government to lift the
protections several months ago in March. Pedro Garcia, a mining lawyer,
told O Globo newspaper that nearly “all major mining companies in the world” are interested in exploiting the region, especially those from the United States, Canada, Australia, and South Africa.

Indeed, the corporate cabal got rid of the most popular Leftist leader, Lula da Silva, and brought the fascist Bolsonaro in power. The corporate oligarchs knew that Bolsonaro would definitely continue the work of Temer, even more aggressively.
As Common Dreams reported right after Bolsonaro's victory:
Western corporate interests and the business press could hardly contain their glee over the victory of the hard-right former paratrooper who has promised to further pry open Brazilian markets to foreign investment, slash corporate taxes, and privatize the nation's public services.
While highlighting Bolsonaro's "homophobic, racist, and misogynist statements," the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) gushed that his win over Workers' Party candidate Fernando Haddad "could mean fresh opportunities for Canadian companies looking to invest in the resource-rich country" thanks to his strong commitment to "open markets."
"It could be a good time to be a mining investor in Brazil," declared Anna Prusa, a former U.S. State Department official who researches Brazil for the Wilson Center, a Washington, D.C.-based firm.
Canadian business interests are hardly the only ones well-positioned to profit immensely from Bolsonaro's iron-fisted regime. |
Amazon rainforest is getting destroyed by the neoliberal fascists and their corporate masters. There is no time for excuses. The Green New Deal is a necessity, not a luxury. Bernie and the progressive army should take the power in the United States before it's too late.
The Greens and all the progressive forces should join the effort in order to prevent the utter nightmare: another Trump term, or another corporate Democrat as the next US president.
