All the right progressives are running for 2020 ... but they need a really smart strategy to have a chance against the neoliberal beast

More than a year ago we wrote that the 2016 electoral process in the US was particularly useful because it highlighted many interesting unprecedented aspects. One of them, is that you don't need the mainstream media to promote you. Especially the young Americans discovered and promoted Bernie Sanders through the independent and social media on the Internet. Another aspect, is that you don't need big money to support you. These new conditions could be proven valuable towards the creation of a third political movement, coming straight from the people, which could seriously challenge the current corrupted political establishment.

We also wrote that we can think at least four progressives that should join forces to lead such a political movement right now: Jill Stein, Bernie Sanders, Tulsi Gabbard, Elizabeth Warren.

Three of them already revealed their intention to run for the 2020 US presidency. Assuming that the Greens won't change leadership, Jill Stein will join the group.

All four should be unconditionally devoted at least to the following:

- Free health care and education, re-build the social state

- Definitely anti-war, anti-intervention

- Definitely anti-Wall Street

- Pro-environmental

- Pro-workers

All four exhibit hopeful signs with their political behavior so far towards such policies that could literally change radically the course of the American society for the benefit of the majority, against the elites.

Yet, apart from the fact that most of them don't seem to be fully aligned with all the above political positions, the three of the Democratic camp have chosen to run separately for the presidency. And this shows, at least at first glance, a lack of minimum co-ordination among the non-corporate, progressive Democrats who have the ambition to transform the party.

Furthermore, they seem to be ignoring Jill Stein and the Greens, despite that one key proposition (mostly promoted by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez), the Green New Deal, is coming straight from the political manifesto of the Green Party. We expect that the progressives inside the Democratic Party will have to face a fierce opposition and another dirty war by the media and the corporate Democrats towards 2020. This means that, in the end, many young American voters may turn to the Greens as the only alternative. Therefore, Jill Stein should be part of the progressive forces that aim to transform the American society by beating the neoliberal beast.

It seems that the establishment press already started some smear operations, mostly against Bernie Sanders and Tulsi Gabbard. Apparently, Elizabeth Warren is considered to be closer to the establishment positions and therefore could be 'handled' easier, while Jill Stein is not considered a serious threat, at least for now.

On the other hand, all these could be proved a smart strategy designed by the progressive camp. The separate nominations for the presidency by Sanders, Gabbard and Warren, could be proved a significant advantage. That's because, as we know, the corporate lobbyists have plenty of money to support a plethora of nominations from the establishment of the Democratic Party.

Yet, when the DNC will rig the primaries again, the only option for the progressives will be to build a third political party and join forces with the Greens.

With another, bigger anti-progressive war being exposed, especially the young Americans will turn massively to the third party. And this would be the biggest threat against the neoliberal beast. Too good to be true? We shall see ...

Trump's tariffs: A unique opportunity for BRICS and the Global South to fully escape from dollar tyranny

globinfo freexchange   Does Trump know what he is doing? Well, yes and no. While many interpretate his latest move, mostly as an attempt to halt China, his main goal is to give the final blow to the neoliberal order on behalf of his oligarchs .  From this perspective, Trump's unprecedented decision to decide mass tariffs against almost everyone, was an act of strategic hit against the global free market neoliberalism, with the financial capital  at its top. And that's because this dominant-for-almost-half-century system, identifies restrictions and protectionism as major threats against its own existence. In other words, Trump acted as a commander of the capitalist faction that wants to beat its neoliberal rivals and put itself in charge, through a new transformation of capitalism into a 21st century corporate feudalism.   Concerning China, Trump's move may have some negative impact on its economy for a while, since China has chosen to partially play by the rule...

Israel Has Always ‘Depended on Genocide’ to Colonize Palestine

BreakThrough News   Rania Khalek and Eugene Puryear discuss Israel’s resumption of its genocidal war on Palestinians in Gaza, launched just a day before Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was set to face his corruption trial. Israel, backed by a green light from Trump, intensified the bombing of Gaza, began a ground invasion, and killed over 500 Palestinians within 48 hours while enforcing a total blockade of Gaza. Eugene states that Israel never wanted to go through with the ceasefire because “the Israeli project can’t succeed unless it totally ethnically cleanses the territories it claims– and kills anyone in the way.” Recognizing that they may “not get the chance again,” they are putting their foot on the accelerator.”

Betar: the Far-Right Hate Group Helping Trump Deport Israel’s Critics

by Alan Macleod  Part 1 A far-right, pro-Israel group with a history of support for terror and genocide is working closely with the Trump administration, preparing dossiers on thousands of pro-Palestine figures it wants deported from the United States. Betar U.S. is known to have had several meetings with senior government officials and has claimed credit for the arrest and detention of Mahmoud Khalil, a leader of the nationwide anti-genocide student demonstrations that began at Columbia University last year. Ross Glick, the group’s executive director until last month, noted that he met with a diverse set of influential lawmakers, including Democratic senator John Fetterman and aides to the Republican senators Ted Cruz and James Lankford, and that all supported Betar U.S.’ campaign to rid the country of thousands of “terror supporters.” Shortly after Glick’s trip to Washington, D.C., Trump signed an executive order titled “Additional Measures to Combat Anti-Semitism” that promises ...

Professor at Center of Columbia University Deportation Scandal is Former Israeli Spy

The professor at the center of the Columbia University deportation scandal is a former Israeli intelligence official, MintPress News can reveal. Mahmoud Khalil, a recent graduate of the university’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), was abducted by Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) Saturday for his role in organizing protests last year against Israel’s attack on Gaza. Khalil’s dean, Dr. Keren Yarhi-Milo, head of the School of International and Public Affairs, is a former Israeli military intelligence officer and official at Israel’s Mission to the United Nations. Yarhi-Milo played a significant role in drumming up public concern about a supposed wave of intolerable anti-Semitism sweeping over the campus, thereby laying the groundwork for the extensive crackdown on civil liberties that has followed the protests.   by Alan Macleod   Part 2 - Unprecedented Protests, Unprecedented Repression Columbia was the epicenter of a massive protest movement across ...

Netanyahu commits 'a bloodbath in Gaza' to save himself

Middle East Eye   At least 400 people have been killed after a surprise Israeli attack on Gaza in the early hours of Tuesday. Israel’s government vows to continue escalating these military attacks, saying it’s in response to Hamas’ refusal to extend the ceasefire, which has been in place since January. But is this the real reason for this morning’s attack? Or is there a much more cynical explanation - one tied to the political fate of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu?   The Big Picture Podcast speaks to Daniel Levy, the president of the US/Middle East Project and a former Israeli peace negotiator.
