U.S.
Republican presidential candidate and former New York Governor,
George Pataki, has called on Twitter to block the newly-created
account of whistleblower Edward Snowden.
Snowden,
forced to seek asylum in Russia after leaking thousands of National
Security Agency documents, opened an account on the social media site
Tuesday and within an hour had 150,000 followers, despite only
following one account: the NSA (@NSAGov).
At the time
of writing, the @Snowden account has 1.09 million followers.
But Pataki,
who enjoys 0.6 percent in current Republican presidential polls, was
unhappy that Snowden was able to have a “platform” to communicate
with the outside world.
