“A
senior UN official has warned that one million more Syrians will flee
their homes by the end of the year if ongoing violence persists in
the Arab country. 'There are a million people displaced this year and
the projection is another million will be displaced inside Syria
between now and the end of the year if the violence continues to
escalate,' said Yacoub El Hillo, the UN humanitarian coordinator in
Syria, on Saturday.”
“Raising
the alarm about shortage of food for Syrians, El Hillo said that the
World Food Program will have 'zero dollars to provide food to 5
million people inside Syria' as of November. The foreign-sponsored
conflict in Syria, which flared up in March 2011, has claimed more
than 250,000 lives up until now, according to reports.”
“The
United Nations says the militancy, which has escalated due to
operations by Takfiri terrorists groups such as Daesh, has also
displaced more than 7.2 million Syrians internally, and compelled
over four million others to take refuge in neighboring countries,
including Jordan and Lebanon.”
