Recently,
US Senator Marco Rubio has posted
a picture of the brutal murder of late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi
in a less-than-subtle threat to Venezuela’s Maduro. Twitter blasted
Rubio as a manic warmonger… who has extremely poor taste.
The two
pictures – one showing Gaddafi while still in power, the other
showing the Libyan leader being tortured minutes before his brutal
murder – were posted by Sen. Rubio (R-FL) on Twitter without any
caption. Yet, given his open calls for an armed insurrection in the
Latin American country to depose President Nicolas Maduro, the
message was clear.
Through
this unspeakable action, the US imperialist maniac actually justified
the fears of most Venezuelans who know very well what happened to
Libya, after the so-called 'humanitarian intervention' by the US and
its allies.
As Aaron
Mate said on The Jimmy Dore Show:
That
fear of turning into another Libya is very much on the mind of very
many Venezuelans. I heard from them directly, going into especially
poor neighborhoods, and I heard so many references to being scared of
the US wanting to foment a civil war and turn the country into
another Libya.
And it's
a fair concern because, as we saw, there are many analogous features
of what happened in Libya. Where you have an oil-rich country, you
have a demonized global south leader, you have internal polarization
and all this gets exploited. And the US basically goes in and says
that the pretext for the Libyan war, was that this was gonna be a
limited humanitarian intervention to stop a potential massacre in
Benghazi. So, using human rights concerns to launch the war, but then
of course the war goes way beyond that.
And
even though you have UN resolutions calling for negotiations - you
have Gaddafi even calling for negotiations - the US and its NATO
allies go way beyond that and
they destroy the country. And
now, you have slavery. And
those people [Venezuelans]
are
very well aware of that. And
I heard that history and that fear on the minds of many people who I
spoke to.
So, to
see Marco Rubio tweeting that out, I can't think of a bigger
validation of all those fears.
Can
you remember any other sociopath in the past who
actually
cheered the brutal murder of Muammar Gaddafi?
That's
all you need to know to understand that when they are about to
destroy and loot a country, the US corporate puppets are all united
and on the same side.
