Φάκελος Κύπρου: Οι Χουντικοί γνώριζαν για την εισβολή και έκαναν διακοπές

Μέρος 2ο - "Ήξεραν για την εισβολή αλλά εφησύχαζαν στα θερέτρα τους!"

Η στρατιωτική επέμβαση της Τουρκίας κατά της Κύπρου -γνωστή και ως επιχείρηση “Αττίλας Ι”- ξεκίνησε στις 5.20΄ το πρωί της 20ής Ιουλίου 1974 με ταυτόχρονη ρίψη αλεξιπτωτιστών και απόβαση (“αποβίβαση”, όπως την αποκαλούσαν οι Χουντικοί για να της προσδώσουν μια επίφαση νομιμότητας) τουρκικών στρατευμάτων ανατολικά της Κυρήνειας στο βόρειο τμήμα της μεγαλονήσου.

Δεν υπήρχε αιφνιδιασμός.

Ήταν γνωστό άλλωστε από τα προηγούμενα έτη πως “η 39η Μεραρχία της Τουρκίας –που ήταν αποδεσμευμένη από το ΝΑΤΟ και αποτελούσε τμήμα του Εθνικού Στρατού της Τουρκίας– ήταν από την εποχή της συγκρότησής της προσανατολισμένη για την Κύπρο… Η Μεραρχία αυτή είχε σαν στόχο την Κύπρο… Παρακολουθούσαμε επί 5χρόνια τις κινήσεις της Μεραρχίας και ξέρουμε πολλές λεπτομέρειες”.

Σύμφωνα μάλιστα με τον ταξίαρχο Μιχαήλ Γεωργίτση, “η πρώτη πληροφορία που είχαμε πάρει από την ΚΥΠ ήταν ότι στις 18 του μηνός στη Μερσίνα γίνεται προετοιμασία για απόβαση. (...) Εγώ τη διεβίβασα στο Αρχηγείο των Ενόπλων Δυνάμεων και μας είπανε 'μην ανησυχείτε δεν πρόκειται περί αποβάσεως, αλλά περί ασκήσεως ΝΑΤΟ'”.

Δεν υπήρξε λοιπόν αιφνιδιασμός, αλλά παραπλάνηση και ανόητος εφησυχασμός. Μετά το πραξικόπημα της 15η Ιουλίου 1974 όλοι στην Κύπρο θεωρούσαν πιθανή την επέμβαση των Τούρκων και μόνον οι Χουντικοί εθελοτυφλούσαν λέγοντας πως “υπήρχε κάλυψις”, εννοώντας από την πλευρά των ΗΠΑ.

Το ενδεχόμενο εισβολής αυξανόταν μέρα με την ημέρα κι ενώ η τουρκική επέμβαση γινόταν πραγματικότητα οι εντολές από το Ανώτατο Επιτελείο ήταν, τουλάχιστον μέχρι τα μεσάνυχτα της 19ης Ιουλίου, στερεότυπες: “Μην προβαίνετε σε επιστράτευση. Μην κάνετε κινήσεις που μπορούν να αποτελέσουν αφορμή επέμβασης από μέρους των Τούρκων. Αυτοσυγκράτηση”.

Η χουντική διοίκηση του Γενικού Επιτελείου Εθνικής Φρουράς (ΓΕΕΦ), σύμφωνα με το πόρισμα της Βουλής για τον “Φάκελο Κύπρου”, αποδείχθηκε πλήρως ανίκανη να ανταποκριθεί στις στοιχειώδεις ανάγκες αυτής της κρίσιμης στιγμής, όπως αποδεικνύεται από τη μη έκδοση συγκεκριμένων διαταγών, την αδυναμία άσκησης αποτελεσματικού επιχειρησιακού ελέγχου, την πλήρη σύγχυση για το τι έπρεπε να γίνει, την έλλειψη ηθικού σε όλα τα κλιμάκια Διοίκησης και λόγω του αντι-μακαριακού πραξικοπήματος που είχε προηγηθεί.

Επίσης αποδείχθηκε η μηδενική επαγγελματική ικανότητα των στρατιωτικών στελεχών, πλην ορισμένων εξαιρέσεων, και η πλήρης αποδιοργάνωση διατάξεων μάχης και στο σύνολο των μονάδων Εθνοφρουράς. Κοντολογίς οι Τούρκοι δεν ήρθαν για να εισβάλουν σε μια καλά οργανωμένη αμυντικά Κύπρο, αλλά απλώς έπρεπε να γκρεμίσουν μια “χαλασμένη πόρτα” και να εισέλθουν στη, καταρρακωμένη από τις ενέργειες των Χουντικών, μεγαλόνησο χωρίς να αντιμετωπίσουν σοβαρή αντίσταση.

Η μόνη άξια λόγου στρατιωτική αμυντική ενέργεια, που έλαβε χώρα στην κρίσιμη αυτή χρονική περίοδο, ήταν η κίνηση των τριών Μοιρών καταδρομών προς την κατεύθυνση των στενών της Αγύρτας, που είχε κύρια αποστολή να αποκόψει τη μόνη κατεύθυνση συνένωσης των δυνάμεων εισβολής, οι οποίες αποβιβάζονταν, με τις δυνάμεις των Τουρκοκυπρίων της περιοχής Πενταδακτύλου Λευκωσίας.

Κι ενώ η τουρκική απόβαση βρισκόταν σε πλήρη εξέλιξη το ΓΕΕΦ δεν διέταζε πυρ κατά των εισβολέων, αλλά συνιστούσε “αυτοσυγκράτηση”. Στο σημείο αυτό το πόρισμα της Βουλής για τον “Φάκελο Κύπρου” είναι καταπέλτης: “Στα πλαίσια του ΑΤΤΙΛΑ Ι η 'ηγεσία' του συνόλου των Ελληνικών Ενόπλων δυνάμεων (...) κατά το πενθήμερο 15.7.1974 έως 19.7.1974, που όλα έδειχναν ότι θα γίνονταν Τουρκική εισβολή στην Κύπρο, εφησύχαζε στα θέρετρά της (σ.σ.!) και δεν λάβαινε κανένα μέτρο για την αντιμετώπιση επικείμενου κινδύνου. Παρέλειψε έτσι να εκπληρώσει τις υποχρεώσεις της χώρας μας και απέναντι στην Κύπρο, έστω αυτές τις λίγες που προέβλεπε το σχέδιο Κ”.

Τελικά μόλις τις 8.40΄ το πρωί -δηλαδή 3 ώρες και 20 λεπτά μετά την απόβαση!- της 20ής Ιουλίου διατάχθηκε η εφαρμογή των σχεδίων άμυνας (το περίφημο “Σχέδιο Κ”) και μάλιστα όχι από το Διοικητή του, αλλά τηλεφωνικώς, από τον Υποστράτηγο Χανιώτη που υπηρετούσε ως αρχηγός του Α’ κλάδου στο ΑΕΔ. Η στρατιωτική εμπλοκή είχε ξεκινήσει...

On November, 23, WikiLeaks published an e-mail, sent by a member of an OPCW fact-finding mission to Syria to his superiors, in which he expresses his gravest concern over intentional bias introduced to a redacted version of the report he co-authored.

Ο Οργανισμός Αμερικανικών Κρατών, που εξέδωσε την έκθεση για την εκλογική αναμέτρηση στη Βολιβία, η οποία «δικαιολόγησε» το πραξικόπημα εναντίον του Έβο Μοράλες, είναι στη θεωρία ένας ουδέτερος οργανισμός κρατών. In his speeches, Bernie Sanders frequently refers to the 32nd president of the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR), and his New Deal program that helped millions of Americans after the 1929 Wall Street crash. Sanders and other progressives are proposing a similar program adjusted to the modern environmental challenges. The Green New Deal has now become a popular vision, especially among young Americans. Around it, the progressives are aiming to build a whole new model beyond destructive neoliberalism and even obsolete capitalism.

Many would argue that this is quite an extremely optimistic view. That Sanders is just an old-school moderate Social-Democrat who will only manage to revive some typical social policies of the past, and that's it.
