It's
rare for a military contractor to go out of its way to highlight ties
to elected officials, but US defense manufacturer Lockheed Martin
wrote a most heartfelt eulogy to the late John McCain. Its sentiment
was not appreciated.
On
Sunday, a day after the American politician's death, the
Maryland-based company took to its Twitter to call the long-serving
Arizona senator "an exceptionally courageous leader and a
true patriot."
But the
combination McCain's reputation as a fierce advocate of foreign
intervention, and Lockheed's line of work, this was never likely to
attract the say-something-nice-or-nothing-at-all crowd.

I would like to express my condolences to the loved ones of John McCain's victims.— Trini Watchman (@triniwatchman) August 26, 2018
How surprising. War-profiteers praising a war-monger, who’d have thought https://t.co/VB0NauSd6f— Bernardo Jurema 🌹 (@bernajurema) August 26, 2018
'The taxpayers' interests were properly served.' Indeed they were! Thanks to the war machine, your country is now, for all practical purposed, bankrupt. Good going👍— Sa-A81 (@SaA8110) August 26, 2018
If a military contractor gives you a shining obituary, you were a villain.— 🏴boi (@apoci_yn_gymru) August 26, 2018
He was also *really* good for your bottom line. I mean, he sold a *lot* of bombs for you.— Spatial Anomaly 🌹 (@spatial_anomaly) August 26, 2018
I'm sure you will miss him but plenty more war mongers to line your pockets. Dry your tears.— Tulsi-Nina-Bernie-Ajamu (@HillaryGuess) August 26, 2018
Of course you will miss him, how much taxpayer money did he funnel to you via endless warmongering? It won't be hard to find another puppet to take over I am sure.— Arthur Sido (@ArthurSido) August 26, 2018

And the profit it brings (chorus, repeat)
I can’t read this statement it’s covered in blood.— The Original Elon Musk (est. 1963) (@DoctorZachJones) August 26, 2018
He'll be greatly missed, all right. He was a lock-step vote for more wars, more arms, more death and destruction around the world--which leads to more profits for you! Gotta find someone to keep the gravy train rolling.— David Hart (@DaeguDave) August 26, 2018
@DanielLMcAdams They’re upset they lost one of their great salesman 👨💼— Ilyas Ali (@IlliyAli) August 26, 2018
No worries, Lockheed. Other war profiteers like Marco Rubio and Lindsey Graham will surely be stepping into his blood soaked shoes quite soon to continue helping you make billions from the mass murders of brown people overseas. T&P for your loss of revenue in the meantime.— ☦#WarIsARacket☦ (@For2000years) August 26, 2018
