CETA: the forerunner of the corporate neo-feudalism

This collection of short reports describes and analyses many of the most contentious aspects of the proposed Canada–EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). Dozens of trade and investment experts in Canada and the EU have collaborated to provide a diversity of perspectives on the proposed agreement, but all agree that CETA, as it is written, threatens the public good on both sides of the Atlantic. In a wide variety of policy areas only loosely related to trade, CETA elevates the rights of corporations and foreign investors above the welfare of citizens and the broader public interest.
Briefly:
- INVESTOR–STATE DISPUTE SETTLEMENT
The latest CETA text pays lip service to public concerns about investor–state dispute settlement (ISDS) by replacing it with what the EU and Canada are calling an Investment Court System. While it improves some procedural aspects of ISDS—for example, by making arbitrators less prone to conflicts of interest—the protections afforded to investors in th…

Journey to Aleppo: exposing the truth buried under NATO propaganda

The Syrian people are suffering under the ‘moderate rebels’ and ‘opposition forces’ backed by the US, NATO member states and their allies in the Gulf states and Israel. Yet their suffering is largely ignored in the mainstream media unless it furthers the agenda dictated by the State Department.
This article is the first in a two-part series of one Western journalist’s journey to Aleppo, a city ravaged by an insurgency supported by the United States, NATO member states, and their allies in the Gulf states and Israel. In Part I, Vanessa Beeley lays out the mainstream narrative on Syria, revealing a neoconservative agenda promoted by NATO-funded NGOs. These NGOs paint the destruction of the historic city as being caused by the Syrian government under Bashar Assad, not the violent armed insurgents which receive arms, funding and training from Western governments and their allies.

US military is building a $100 million drone base in Africa

From high above, Agadez almost blends into the cocoa-colored wasteland that surrounds it. Only when you descend farther can you make out a city that curves around an airfield before fading into the desert. Once a nexus for camel caravans hauling tea and salt across the Sahara, Agadez is now a West African paradise for people smugglers and a way station for refugees and migrants intent on reaching Europe’s shores by any means necessary.
Africans fleeing unrest and poverty are not, however, the only foreigners making their way to this town in the center of Niger. U.S. military documents reveal new information about an American drone base under construction on the outskirts of the city. The long-planned project — considered the most important U.S. military construction effort in Africa, according to formerly secret files obtained by The Intercept through the Freedom of Information Act — is slated to cost $100 million, and is just one of a number of recent American military initiatives in …

NO EURO International Forum

How a Goldman Sachs puppet promoted another Goldman Sachs puppet as the PM of Greece

The agents of the global financial mafia are everywhere!
globinfo freexchange
The creator of Debtocracy and Catastroika documentaries, Aris Chatzistefanou, presents an interview that was not included, finally, in his new documentary "This is not a coup", that actually exposes the authoritarian regime of the European Financial Dictatorship.
In this short piece, the former correspondent of the Financial Times in Italy, Alan Friedman, describes how the former president of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, came up with the idea, back in 2011, that the then Greek PM George Papandreou could be replaced by the technocrat Lucas Papademos, as eventually happened, when Papandreou "dared" to think to hold a referendum on the acceptance of the terms of the eurozone bailout deal with Greece.
An interesting part from the interview:
George Papandreou, when he called the referendum at the end of 2011, got "beaten up" by everybody at the G20 in Cannes. Barroso and…

THIS IS NOT A COUP:

Dilma Rousseff says successor “confessed to the coup”

Coup in Brazil
In the first exclusive interview following her impeachment, former Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff said that her unelected successor, installed president Michel Temer, has “confessed to the coup” against her.
Rousseff was referring to controversial public remarks delivered by Temer last week in which he explicitly stated that the impeachment process was initiated due to Rousseff’s refusal to accept his party’s neo-liberal economic plan, rather than the alleged budgetary manipulations which served as the stated justification for impeachment. Temer’s remarks were first reported by The Intercept Brasil last Thursday.
As Rousseff stated:
“Also, there were those with their own plans who wanted something else: ‘We will implement a political program that was not approved by the ballot box, a different political plan’. And this is being confessed, there’s something curious about this coup, they confess the coup. Two days later. They’re confessing. Last confession came fro…

Apple logs your iMessage contacts — and may share them with police

Apple promises that your iMessage conversations are safe and out of reach from anyone other than you and your friends. But according to a document obtained by The Intercept, your blue-bubbled texts do leave behind a log of which phone numbers you are poised to contact and shares this (and other potentially sensitive metadata) with law enforcement when compelled by court order.
Every time you type a number into your iPhone for a text conversation, the Messages app contacts Apple servers to determine whether to route a given message over the ubiquitous SMS system, represented in the app by those déclassé green text bubbles, or over Apple’s proprietary and more secure messaging network, represented by pleasant blue bubbles, according to the document. Apple records each query in which your phone calls home to see who’s in the iMessage system and who’s not.
This log also includes the date and time when you entered a number, along with your IP address — which could, contrary to a 2013 Apple c…

NO EURO Foro Internacional

Hillary indirectly admits that the US invasion in Iraq was a disaster

A few points from Monday's presidential debate
globinfo freexchange
As expected, Monday's presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, didn't make us wiser. However, it would be useful to focus on a few moments, anyway.
Generally, the rhetoric of the two candidates was based on simple conclusions concerning various US internal problems, which anyone knows and actually experiencing to a much higher degree than themselves. This type of rhetoric, of course, is very usual for the establishment politicians around the globe in our days.
For example, you may notice that they frequently used the phrase "we have to ...", or, "we need to ..." deal with (put whatever issue you like in the dots), which actually only identifies the problem, does not provide a solution for it.
The debate was full of such generalities. Another example is the phrase of Hillary Clinton that “We just have a different view about what's best for growing the economy, how we …

Temer actually admits that Rousseff was overthrown because she didn't support neoliberalism!

Coup in Brazil
During a recent appearance at a corporate think tank, Brazilian President Michel Temer admitted that his predecessor, Dilma Rousseff, was impeached because she refused to implement a neoliberal reform plan published by Temer’s party.
Rousseff was formally removed from office on Aug. 31 after the Brazilian senate voted to impeach her for breaking budgetary laws. This allowed Temer to take office despite a court ruling barring him from running for election.
However, Rousseff and other critics of Temer have argued that her impeachment was actually a coup d’etat which set the stage for Temer to take power, backed by a government that’s more favorable to corporate investors.
Appearing Wednesday before an audience in New York at the Americas Society/Council of the Americas, a corporate think tank founded in 1965 by the powerful banker David Rockefeller, Temer appeared to admit that the impeachment had more to do with Rousseff’s refusal to adopt a sweeping package of economic and …
