The exits epidemic - the US empire must be furious

After the vote for Brexit prevailed, a series of European Union countries expressed their true feelings about the Union. As the ghost of the Far-Right is taking over the continent after EU's complete failure to handle the refugee issue efficiently, several countries threaten the rotten EU structure with an exits epidemic.

The Hungarian Prime Minister's [Viktor Orban] right hand man has said he does not want to remain in the European Union (EU) as it fails to protect European values. Janos Lazar's shock revelation on Thursday afternoon came as a growing number of EU members have joined a queue to back leaving the bloc after Britons voted to leave last week. The Minister for the Prime Minister's office, said: "I couldn't vote whole-heartedly for Hungary to stay in the EU. "Europe does not equal the EU. The EU is not able to protect the rights and values of Europe."

[...]

Hungary, which joined the EU in 2004, has become part of a core group of rebels, including Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, who threatened today to draw up their own plans for a less centralised EU. Poland, which also joined in 2004, is leading the rebellion by nine former communist countries after accusing the old guard - Belgium, France, Italy, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands - of monopolising EU discussions after holding private talks in Berlin over the weekend.

[...]

Mr Orban also said the EU's failure to manage the migrant crisis was to blame for Britain voting to leave the EU and warned further referendums could follow. He added: "The important question is what lessons to draw from what happened, for us Europeans who are still members of the European Union and want to stay in. "If the EU cannot solve the migration situation then such challenges as we saw in the case of the United Kingdom will increase."

There is no doubt that some former Eastern Bloc countries are deeply displeased, not only by the way that the EU is dealing the refugee crisis, but also by the fact that they seem to be left out from key decisions by the EU's founding members and hard core countries. It seems that the pro-Brexit vote inspired them to follow the same path.

So, while the US empire may not be entirely displeased by a potential Brexit, as the traditional politics will restore influence on a traditional ally, it must be really furious seeing that former Eastern Bloc countries seriously thinking of leaving the EU.

The economic oligarchy that represents the neoliberal internationalism in both sides of the Atlantic will not tolerate further losses. Yet, that doesn't mean that there is no economic war between the big capital supergiants. Inside this increasingly chaotic situation, things are far more complex than they appear.

The US banking/corporate capital promotes its most faithful puppet, Hillary Clinton, as the most suitable to break the threat of the rising Sino-Russian alliance, which could form a rival alternative model through BRICS and other formations against the Western neoliberal financial monopoly. For that purpose it would be absolutely necessary to keep the former Eastern Bloc countries tied to the Western formations, by all means. Theoretically, Germany should act towards this direction, but the paranoia of the German technocrats that demand further sado-monetarism by the member states, even after Brexit, appears to be unexplained.

As already mentioned, Nationalists and Far-Right eurosceptics are rising everywhere, seeing already a German-dominated Europe. So why the German political puppets play with fire? Why do they put their precious neoliberal internationalism at risk?

An alternative possible explanation would be that the German capital is trying to shape its own pole in the European continent, creating an autonomous bloc. The German technocrats don't know how to do it except go by the book of the mainstream neoliberal economics of destruction, made in IMF. They are characterized by zero flexibility and all they care about is to start another Treuhand operation in European level for the benefit of the German oligarchy. Despite that they destroyed the Greek economy, they didn't hesitate to force the second eurozone economy, France, proceed in anti-labor measures, using the European institutions. They will not hesitate to impose the sado-monetarism recipe even inside Germany.

At the same time, there is an underground economic war through which the few survivors will declare absolute dominance in the neo-Feudal era of big banks and corporations. We've seen some examples that came on surface: “German drug and chemicals group Bayer has offered to buy the American GM seed pioneer Monsanto for $62bn (£43bn) in a deal that would create the world’s biggest agricultural supplier.” (theguardian.com) Also, the US-controlled IMF declared war on Deutsche Bank stating that the bank "poses the greatest systemic risk to the global financial system".

The problem is that until the whole thing clear up, the exits epidemic may break the EU into pieces with the nightmare of Far-Right hanging above the continent. Recall that the Czech president proposed referendum not only on EU, but also on NATO membership. Therefore, the US empire must be really furious about the stubborn German inflexibility right now. How things could evolve further from this chaos, it would be better not to think about it ...

US imperialists sacrifice their European branch on the altar of their proxy war against Russia in Ukraine

globinfo freexchange   To arm the nazis and destroy Ukraine by dragging the country into a war with Russia wasn't enough for the ruthless US imperialists. They had to throw into the arena the entire Europe.    Yet, apart from a few - highly uncertain - successes so far, (coming from one of its most dirty proxy wars), the declining US empire discovers that it has to pay a huge price, just only to challenge the rise of its global rivals. It appears that, so far, the US imperialists are close to fulfill two of their key goals.    First, to lure Sweden and Finland into the NATO trap. A move that could be proved disastrous for two of the most prosperous and advanced European countries, whose achievements materialized (to a high degree) due to decades of neutrality.   Second, to force Russia into a long attrition war with Ukraine. Since already 2014, we wrote that the US imperialists wanted to challenge Putin in order to drag Russia in an endless attrition war in East Ukraine and this

Iran & Russia pledge to cut US dollar from global trade, strengthen China alliance

Do it like the Fed: ECB raises key interest rates, creates money circulation loop for big banks and corporations

globinfo freexchange   Inside the storm of inflation, the European Central Bank suddenly thought that it would be a good idea to raise key interest rates for the first time in 11 years.  According to Deutsche Welle (DW) [emphasis added]:                       The ECB raised its negative benchmark deposit rate by 50 basis points from minus 0.5% to 0%, lifting the bank's deposit facility out of negative territory for the first time in eight years. The announcement came as a surprise as the bank had initially hinted that it would hike the rate by 25 basis points only .    It's remarkable that DW's analyst, Kristie Pladson, stated that " ... this is a historic decision they've taken now - first hike in eleven years, so, on that level, it's a little bit unclear exactly what effect it's going to have ... "   However, one thing ECB's move will surely affect, is money access for most of the Europeans. As Pladson says:                      ... what we do

Roger Waters destroys CNN host about Ukraine & Taiwan

The Jimmy Dore Show   Pink Floyd founding member and outspoken activist Roger Waters appeared on CNN recently and took advantage of the opportunity to school host Michael Smerconish on a range of topics, including the truth about the Ukraine War’s origins, Russia’s role in winning World War II against the Nazis and Taiwan’s relationship to China.

Francis Fukuyama is right: Socialism is the only alternative to liberalism

In Liberalism and Its Discontents, Francis Fukuyama diagnoses the political and psychological malaise caused by capitalism. His analysis makes one thing clear: liberalism is incapable of addressing the social, economic, and ecological crises it faces.    by Samuel McIlhagga  Part 1 In a CNN interview, after another round of the US government’s sanctions on Russia, the following exchange took place between the show’s host and President Joe Biden’s economic adviser Brian Deese:               CNN: What do you say to those families that say, “Listen, we can’t afford to pay $4.85 a gallon for months if not years, this is just not sustainable”?         Deese: Well, what you heard from the president today was a clear articulation of the stakes. . . . This is about the future of the liberal world order and we have to stand firm. The events of the past two years, from the start of the global pandemic to the war in Ukraine, and now the global food shortage, are clear signs that liberalism, as a

Mexico’s President gives Joe Biden a big history lesson

Latin American nations are putting themselves on the front line for the sovereignty of certain countries, and are backing progressive processes in others   by Rodrigo Guillot   Part 1 Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) visited the United States on July 12 and offered five proposals to US President Joe Biden. These proposals are based on AMLO’s in-depth knowledge of Mexican history and his reading of the economic crisis in the United States, which seems to be losing its edge as a global leader. The first of the proposals that AMLO made was about Mexico allowing US consumers to fill gasoline tanks on the Mexican side of the border. By doing so, it is permitting the United States to ease its inflation crisis. AMLO offered to double the supply of gasoline in Mexico in his show of support to further ease the crisis. Second, AMLO said that Mexico would provide for more than 600 miles of gas pipelines along the US–Mexico border to help transport natural gas from Texas to Ar

The British establishment chose Boris Johnson as its weapon to defeat the Left

Boris Johnson’s disastrous time in office has spluttered to an ignominious conclusion. Many of those now deploring his record sided with Johnson when it really mattered because they wanted to block a left-wing government that could transform British society.   by Daniel Finn   Part 3 - Change UK Can Believe In Austin and Woodcock weren’t the only Labour MPs to break ranks under Corbyn. In February 2019, seven MPs resigned from the party and set up the Independent Group, which later became Change UK. There was a lot of talk in the commentariat about their potential to break the mold of British politics. Yet in the 2019 election, Change UK — now calling itself the Independent Group for Change — took just over ten thousand votes, marginally outpolling the Monster Raving Loony Party. All of the Labour defectors lost their seats — including those who defected a second time to the Liberal Democrats — apart from the ones who decided not to stand. They’ve since gone on to higher things: Chris

US debt held by the Federal Reserve surpassed 25% of GDP in 2021!

globinfo freexchange According to the economic database of St. Louis Federal Reserve (FRED), the US debt held by the Federal Reserve surpassed the unthinkable percentage of 25% of GDP (25.48%) for the first time in the third quarter of 2021! We observe that from the beginning of the related recorded data in 1970, the US debt held by the Federal Reserve remains almost flat and at much lower levels (~ 3.5%-5.5% of GDP). And this is the case even during the recession right after the 1973 oil crisis depicted by the shaded area in the graph.   Then, during the big financial meltdown of 2007-2008, we observe a shallow dive of the debt. After that period, we can see clearly that the US debt held by the Federal Reverse breaks one record after another, reaching unprecedented levels.   For the first time, the debt surpasses 10% of GDP in the second quarter of 2011 (10.41%), and in the first quarter of 2014 surpasses 15% of GDP (15.25%). Then, we have a dive in the third quarter of 2019 at 11.33

Official documents prove “Top Gun: Maverick” is military propaganda

by Alan Macleod   Part 4 - Hollywood: the military’s wingman   “Top Gun: Maverick” has been produced at a time when the United States is currently throttling Iran with illegal and deadly sanctions. In early 2020, the Trump administration assassinated top Iranian general and statesman Qassem Soleimani, and influential figures in the United States have called for an unprovoked nuclear attack on the country. Yet none of this context is mentioned, leaving the legality of the depicted attack unquestioned. As Stahl told MintPress , the basic assumption is that “ the U.S. has the right to violate international law and strike any country for any reason. ” “ Imagine if this film came out of Iran and was about striking an Israeli or U.S. nuclear facility, ” he said. “ Heads would explode with accusations of hard-line propaganda. ” Therefore, “Top Gun: Maverick” falls in line in promoting a remarkably militaristic society; one that spends almost as much on war as every other nation on Earth combi
